- You are more likely to do something different during an international trip.
In December 2012, I went out with a group of friends. We were in a karaoke bar where I sang Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You at midnight. The audience were deeply moved because of the song.
When I was leaving the stage and walking towards my seat, a tall and handsome guy approached me and said, “You are my hero.” He took me to his table. I sat at his table for a little while.
He said, “I’m having an international trip here and I’ll move to this city in 6 months because my company is opening a new office here. You are irresistible. Would you like to go out for lunch with me tomorrow?”
Because I was married at that time, I said, “But I’m married.” Then I went back to my friends’ table.
In 2013, I got a divorce. After the divorce, I went to that karaoke bar to look for him for many times, but I couldn’t find him again.
The real reason why he approached me boldly like that was because he was on an international trip – everything was new and exciting for him in a different environment. So, he did something extraordinary.
In other words, if he had already lived in this city for decades, he probably wouldn’t have bravely approached me like that in the first place.
- Get out of your comfort zone.
If you are comfortable with being the most serious person in the room, maybe it’s time to cultivate your ability to tease. This is a way to step out of your comfort zone and it can be achieved when you are on an international trip because the context is different. 😊
Why not become a multi-dimensional person? Think about which dimensions you need to work on and practice those things from now on. By doing this, you will change your image in other people’s eyes. 😉
