Instead of waiting for a text back, I took a trip to Europe

I was in a dating situation with someone that I liked, but he ghosted me for no reason. As a mature woman, I took a trip to Europe instead of waiting for a text back.

  • Why I took a trip to Europe:

After sending him a text message to indicate that I was thinking about him, I was surprised that he wouldn’t even respond to my text message. Clearly, he was not thinking about me at all.

If this happened when I was younger, I would wonder what happened and why he wouldn’t respond to my message. I would call a counsellor and ask for help or advice.

But now I’m in my late 30s, so I’m mature enough to understand that rather than waiting for his message back, I should do something productive – read a book, write a blog article, create something beautiful….

My decision was to take a trip to Europe, a place that I always wanted to visit.

People in Europe are much more relaxed that people that I’m familiar with because Europeans have a different approach in life. Interestingly, many Europeans don’t work in the summer because they love holidays. For example, almost everyone that I met in Paris had a 2-month holiday in July and August. No wonder I could see people everywhere in cafes and restaurants from Monday to Friday in the summertime in Paris. That really blew my mind.

  • Why I work so hard:

Frankly, I’m the most hardworking person that I know. I have a full-time day job and run a freelance business in my spare time. Meanwhile, I look after my family because my parents live with me and rely on me in many ways.

Recently, my parents started to tell me to work less because working hard should be one stage of life only (that shouldn’t be my entire life). Since now everything is stable in life, I should work less now.

I think the real reason why I work so hard is because I love what I do. I have a natural connection with the products that I sell on my day job, and I genuinely love my freelance business. Having said that, if there is an opportunity to change my pattern, I would definitely do that.

Fortunately, my day job offers me annual leave every year (4 weeks off each year), so I had enough time for a trip to Europe.

“I must admit that I probably work too much & Europeans work less and enjoy life more, so there is so much to learn from Europeans.”
