How does AI influence our work and international travel?

A recent trip overseas made me realize that AI has already started to influence international travel as well as how people work.

  • AI trip planners have revolutionized international travel

Experts state that AI trip planners are also known as AI travel assistants. For example, during my recent trip to Paris, I used an AI travel planner to create and organize my travel itinerary for Paris and it worked really well.

Apart from that, AI has influenced other aspects of international travel as well. For instance, travel organizations such as hotels and airlines use AI to identify and predict customers’ behavior such as hotel cancellation and flight cancellation. Likewise, booking companies such as Airbnb use ChatGPT to offer people more personalized and more effective services and advice now.

It is reported that AI has been used in tourism in various ways, e.g., self-service technology, businesses accounting and finances, customer service, revenue management, travel planning & booking as well as marketing and advertising.
Roamer, an AI travel app, uses modern technology to give people interesting recommendations for travel destinations. Through analyzing and studying travelers’ preferences, this app shows unusual attractions, fun experiences as well as hidden gems, thereby offering authentic and unique experiences. Clearly, AI is gradually changing the world of travel in different ways. These innovations help travel companies to streamline processes, automate procedures and provide really good recommendations.

  • AI has changed the way people work as well.

A few weeks ago, I received an enquiry, “Do you write articles by yourself or do you use AI to write articles?”

I told her that I write every article by myself.

Then I saw an email from a website design platform which says this platform gets AI to write content for websites. Suddenly, I realized that the reason why I started to receive fewer and fewer enquiries is because more and more people use AI to produce content for their websites – they don’t need a writer anymore.

What’s more, in this day and age, there are more writers than readers. Most published authors never receive royalties because their books don’t sell well (the initial sales can hardly cover the book advance, so the publisher never has enough revenue to give the author royalties). Most podcasts only have hundreds of downloads if they are lucky. No wonder Gary Vaynerchuk says “Attention is the most important part of modern marketing these days. And marketing is getting harder and harder now.” Indeed, if every website is an internet marketer, there isn’t enough attention on the market in this day and age.

Also, AI can replace at least 300 million jobs, according to BBC. Jobs such as copywriters, administrative assistants and factory workers could be easily replaced by AI. Personally, I know someone who has already replaced his staff members due to AI. A friend of mines has a content marketing agency. He had a content producing team, but because of AI, that team currently only has 1 person (3 people have been replaced by AI, so they were made redundant this year). Time Magazine even points out that AI are gradually taking over jobs that were lost to COVID-19. We are living in a new world.

“AI not only changes international travel, but also replaces many jobs.”
