Going to Italy made me change my diet

When I went to Italy, I realized that going gluten free is the most talked about trend over there. Should I go gluten free?

  • Going gluten free is the most popular diet trend.

Research shows that going gluten free promotes digestive health, reduces bloating and increases energy levels. But it seems that going completely gluten free has some negative effects as well for many people. Scientists point out that you don’t really have to be free from gluten entirely unless you actually need to. Scientifically, carbs are supposed to make up at least 56% of a balanced diet. What’s more, we definitely need vitamins and fiber from whole grains. Those who prefer foods which are naturally free from gluten such as vegetables, fruit, healthy fats and lean protein can certainly have a very healthy low gluten diet. However, totally replacing gluten products with processed gluten-free alternative foods is usually worse than gluten products.

According to my experience, I shouldn’t go gluten free for the rest of my life. I think a reduced gluten instead of a no gluten diet is better.

  • A regular juice cleanse is absolutely necessary.

Before I went to Italy, my favorite drinks were all from coffee shops: hot chocolate, matcha latte, cappuccino, etc.

When I was in Italy, I noticed that many people prefer fresh juice, so I did a 3-day juice cleanse there and totally loved it.

Now this is my favorite weekend drink: coconut water + banana + beetroot + blueberry + ginger + kale = a truly divine drink.

What’s more, I drink celery juice every morning because celery is packed with vitamins and minerals such as vitamins B6, C & K, potassium and folate. It’s very hydrating for my skin, so my skin has been transformed as well. Let me explain.

When I turned 20 years old, I noticed there were some fine lines on my forehead and near my eyes. But because those were not very obvious, I wasn’t worried. As I always use high-quality skin-care products, my skin looks pretty good and now I’m going to be 40 soon. Yet recently, I noticed that the fine lines on my forehead and between my eyebrows became a bit deeper. But instead of buying more expensive skin-care products, I started to drink celery juice every day. Within about 2 weeks, my skin has become much better because those fine lines are disappearing gradually!

More importantly, celery is good for digestion because it can raise acid in my stomach, which helps break down food for quick digestion. Celery also lowers cholesterol; it’s a very powerful antioxidant which can help boost my immunity. According to my observation, drinking celery juice each day has made my skin clearer and my concentration better! In addition, celery is very good for my liver and can flush toxins out. Since it’s very alkaline, it also helps prevent high blood pressure and chronic diseases. Here is what I do every morning: I take a big bunch of celery from my fridge and rinse it thoroughly. I blend it and then drink it on my empty stomach. Basically, a glass of celery juice is about 500ml.

  • The benefits of my new diet:

I would say the results are really good – now I feel so much better and more energetic. In the past, I had anxiety and insomnia, so I couldn’t sleep well at night. Sometimes I worked too hard and was unable to relax (I had a day job and worked as a freelance writer at night, so at times I finished work at 5pm and went home, and then I had to keep writing until 3am. After that, I sometimes couldn’t fall asleep because my muscles were too tight.) Now I am managing my time better and have changed my diet; therefore, my lifestyle has been totally transformed. I’m eternally grateful.

“Going to Italy changed my diet forever and I’m enjoying the benefits of the new diet right now.”
