Why should mature and senior singles travel the world?

“Dating over 45 is harder,” says Rex, “People are much more set in their ways after a certain age, so mature and senior singles find dating more difficult. What advice would you give to singles in this age group?”

  • Being set in one’s ways can be a positive thing.

As people gradually figure out what they prefer and what makes them happy, everybody becomes a bit more set in their ways, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For example, when I was much younger, I hadn’t discovered the joy of reading yet, so I spent too much time watching meaningless TV at that time. Then in my 30s, I discovered the joy of reading; therefore, reading has become an important part of my life now – this hobby gives me knowledge, skills, empowerment, hope and inspiration. Also, when I was younger, I didn’t have a daily routine; consequently, my life was more chaotic. But now I’m more mature and I have an established & effective daily routine. Hence, nowadays I feel more efficient, confident and enlightened.

However, sometimes being set in one’s own ways can be a negative thing because that limits possibilities in life, particularly when it comes to dating and relationships. So, if you are a senior single looking for a relationship, please consider the primary question in your head in this regard:

Are you asking, “How can I meet somebody that is not set in her ways?”

Or “How can I find someone whose ways I actually like and respect?”

Here is the uncomfortable truth: a major threat in your search for true love might be you are too set in your ways – you follow fixed routines and just do things which bring you into contact with the same group of people all the time. As a consequence, the chance of someone new and suitable entering your love life is slim. My advice for all mature and senior singles is to live an expansive life that brings you into contact with new individuals frequently. Thus, traveling the world is a great idea!

travel the world
  • How to live an expansive life:

Traveling the world is one way to live a very expansive life. And there are other ways as well:

  • Still do the activities that you enjoy, but do those things in a more sociable way, e.g., instead of listening to music at home, you can go to a concert; instead of painting pictures alone, you can join an art class; instead of hiring a personal trainer, you can attend a group fitness class at the gym.
  • Try something new and exciting that you have always wanted to do, e.g., if you always wanted to go to see an art exhibition, go there this weekend; if you always wanted to join a book club, join one today; if you always wanted to travel the world, do it this year.
