When you travel internationally, do you still check your emails?

A while ago, I sent an email to someone that did business with me last year. She is a very busy businesswoman who runs a company with her husband. After sending her that email which was inviting her to be featured in a blog article for a well-known website, I received an automatic reply from her, “As I’m focusing on my own work most of the time, I don’t respond to every email. Emails can’t be a priority because productivity is more important.” This response surprised me – though emails probably wouldn’t move the needle forward directly in every way, why would she ignore her email Inbox altogether?

  • Now I travel internationally, I check my email every 48 hours.

I used to check my email every single day because I started my day by checking my email Inbox – I just would like to respond to emails first thing in the morning so that I could get on with my day. 😉

Right now, I travel internationally, so I don’t check my email every morning anymore.

That being said, I do check my email every second day because I strongly believe that effective communication is important to me – being able to communicate with others well can certainly help me with my career. 😊

The above-mentioned businesswoman who refused to respond to my email actually missed out on a major opportunity, for being featured in my long article on a high-traffic website would surely be really good for her business growth.

However, since she didn’t even respond to my email, she wasn’t featured in that paramount article at all.

Interestingly, her competitor was featured in that article instead because her competitor responded to my email!

As far as I know, that article sent a lot of traffic to her competitor. Therefore, her competitor’s business has grown a lot.

travel internationally

  • Email is a big part of our communication these days.

The majority of our daily communication is happening on the Internet in this day and age, partly because we have already entered the mature stage of the Internet era, and partly because the pandemic has made us communicate more often online rather than in person.

As a result, email has become a huge part of our daily communication nowadays. This is a fact that we shouldn’t and can’t ignore.

That’s why even though I’m travelling internationally, I still check my email Inbox every 48 hours just to respond to others’ emails and make sure that I treat people with respect.

“If you have an extremely busy schedule or travel internationally, would you still check your emails on a daily basis?”
