A trip to Mexico: How to be Zen & happy

Now I’m enjoying a trip to Mexico, where I am experiencing the amazing Zen energy first-hand. Indeed, so many people in Mexico are calm and relaxed. They don’t live in the modern English-speaking culture, so my experience in Mexico is very refreshing.

  • An opportunity to cultivate my Zen energy:

Although I’m in Mexico now, I am also organizing my mom’s appointment on the Internet because nowadays everything is done online.

My mom has been waiting to see a doctor in a public hospital for a medical exam. Because she is older now, I organize almost everything for her. Although the hospital has sent me a notification and a link to do the online registration, I never received the text message that includes the link. As a result, I called the hospital and asked them to send the link to me via email. Yes, I received the email, but the registration process requires me to have the verification code, which is sent to my phone. However, my phone just can’t receive the verification code for some reason. (I discovered this issue later this afternoon.)

I should have tried to register my mom online this morning, but I was busy with something else this morning & I had some online work to do this afternoon. Therefore, I didn’t have enough time to chat with the IT support person on the Internet or successfully chase the hospital up again today. Anyway, I sent a text message to the hospital and asked them to change the phone number as I’d like to try a different phone & I’ve notified the IT support person on the website as well. So, I’ll wait for the response from the hospital tomorrow. Hopefully, they will change my phone number for the link, and there will be a solution.

You’ve been trying since last Thursday,” says my Mexican friend Isabella, “Don’t beat yourself up for not checking the link earlier today. You only did what you could with what you had and what you knew at that time. You’ve been doing your best. Just focus on what you can control and let go of everything that is outside of your control.”

What she said is so helpful. My trip to Mexico is very enlightening. Isabella has this beautiful Zen energy, which inspires me tremendously.

  • Inner peace and personal freedom:

What Isabella taught me is an incredibly powerful principle that helps me to achieve personal freedom and inner peace.

Isabella gave me a book written by Don Miguel Ruiz, a well-known Mexican author. The book is called The Four Agreements. My favorite agreement is “Don’t take anything personally”. I also really like “Always do your best”.

Yes, I’m simply doing my best. I’m only human, so I’m not perfect. Because I know I’ve done my best today, I can sleep at night.

What a lovely trip to Mexico!
