“I’m the single one,” Davide was complaining, “I don’t have a partner. I’ve been going out for dates since 1999. Where is she?!”
Davide’s identity is “the single one”. In his subconscious mind, he can’t find a partner because that’s just who he is – the single one. This is a kind of learned helplessness. I encouraged Davide to travel internationally: changing his environment gives him a new perspective. Now he feels… free. 😊
- Davide changed his identity.
After consulting with me, Davide went to a few European countries recommended by me: France, Italy and Spain. He realized something important – It is clear that men in France, Italy and Spain are significantly more romantic than men in English-speaking countries. They are more romantic not because they are more artistic or creative, but because they are in the mood for love no matter what. Yes, they are flirting with women everywhere they go. They are thinking about romance very frequently. By contrast, most men in English-speaking countries don’t even know how to flirt with women.
Further examination shows that single men in France, Italy and Spain don’t have the typical single guy’s mindset (“I’m the single one”). In fact, they strongly believe that they are attractive, confident and high-value men that women desire. In other words, their identity is different. 😉
Davide is smart, so he changed his identity from “I’m the single one” to “I’m a loving partner.”
Interestingly, Davide met a lady and fell in love while traveling internationally. Now they are engaged.
- New identity, new behavior:
Because of Davide’s new identity, now his behavior has changed as well. (Behavior is influenced by identity.) For example, Davide is much more flirtatious, spontaneous, fun-loving and relaxed now. All of these have made him more attractive and confident. His partner says he is a high-value guy that she truly admires.
