Although nowadays people can learn a lot about this world by reading books and surfing the internet, nothing can replace international travel because experiences are priceless.
- Would you spend money on stuff or experiences?
Some people would spend their disposable income on stuff and they love going shopping. Buying something beautiful is the most satisfying thing to do for them. I remember last year when I went to see a doctor who is a well-known medical specialist, he casually mentioned that his favorite activity in his free time is going to the menswear department of a department store because he finds buying clothes very relaxing (his job keeps him extremely busy & he needs some sort of escapism).
There is nothing wrong with spending money on stuff. Actually, if buying certain things makes you incredibly happy, you should probably do that, as long as you can afford that. In truth, you have to know what you value and spend your money on things that you genuinely value. Meanwhile, you’d better stop spending money on things that you do not even care. For example, Belle highly values education, so she spends money on books. Also, she has cancelled her Netflix subscription because she doesn’t value watching movies or TV shows that much.
My best friend Valerie doesn’t like buying stuff. She would rather spend her money on experiences, including international travel.

- International travel gives you highly valuable experiences.
Statistics indicate that compared to stuff, experiences give people more happiness. Personally, I understand why buying new shoes makes me satisfied. Yet I would argue that stimulating experiences in life are more memorable because they provide me with sustainable happiness.
Investing in exciting experiences is just like investing in myself because I thoroughly enjoy every minute in each of those experience. What’s more, I can always think about those experiences in the future whenever I would like to feel those wonderful feelings again.
Right now as I’m typing this paragraph, I can see the photos on my desk: One photo was taken when I was in Australia; the other photos was taken when I was in Asia. Each photo instantly takes me to that beautiful place mentally every time I look at it. It’s a truly satisfying feeling.
“Do you value stuff more or do you value experiences more?”
