A recent study shows that stress is the root cause of most diseases. Therefore, more and more people have decided to reduce their stress in various ways, including international travel. For example, my good friend Cal has decided to go on an overseas trip at least once a year in order to look after his wellbeing. We know that travel can reduce stress, but is travel able to permanently reduce stress? Let’s find it out.
Where does stress actually come from?
Stress comes from needing to have something turn out a certain way that you feel that you can’t control & that you worry could go badly.
The keyword in the sentence above is ‘need’. Frankly, the quality of your life is directly impacted by how many things you think you need. Interestingly, the fewer things you think you need, the less stressed you become.
Secondly, you have to practice fear setting, i.e., what would happen if what you are worried about become true? Chances are that’s not the end of the world, so you will be okay. Indeed, if you fail that job interview, you can attend another job interview. If that woman gives you a rejection, you can start a conversation with another woman. If you are made redundant or fired by your boss, you can start your own business….
Actually, fear setting eliminates neediness.
Now we are going to analyze why international travel can assist you in this regard tremendously.

- The power of tree planning:
Most people make plans via stick planning, e.g., if A doesn’t work out, B is the backup plan. This method is called stick planning because it’s a linear approach.
I’d like to introduce tree planning to you. Basically, tree planning means coming up with various branches from a stick. For example, if A doesn’t work out, B is a backup plan; meanwhile, C is another option that can contribute to B & D is another solution that is relevant to A as well.
If you find tree planning a bit challenging now, there are two highly effective ways to make it easier for you. First of all, you can read books for more ideas. Second, international travel will give you more inspiration because you’ll meet new people who offer different insights and experience places that expand your outlook.
What’s more, putting yourself in a different environment gives you a refreshing perspective. If you do this often and implement the above-mentioned strategies, you’ll be able to permanently reduce stress.
