I went on a trip to Eastern Europe for Christmas last year and my New Year’s resolutions include A) write a blog article every day; B) go to the gym five times a week. So far, I’m able to stick to my New Year’s resolutions & here is why!
- I told my Eastern European friends about my New Year’s resolutions.
The reason why I’m able to stick to my New Year’s resolutions is because I told my Eastern European friends about my plan.
In western countries, perhaps it’s not very common for people to share their New Year’s resolutions with each other because that is supposed to be everyone’s privacy. However, in Eastern Europe, sharing this kind of things with friends is normal.
Actually, my Eastern European friends hold me accountable – because I told them about my New Year’s resolutions, they ask me whether I’m sticking to my resolutions regularly. 😉
As a result, I’m able to stick to my resolutions successfully. 😊
So far, I’ve been writing a blog article each day and going to the gym for five times each week. Life is amazing.
I’m grateful to these friends that I met during my trip to Eastern Europe.

- Everything that is included in my New Year’s resolutions is something that I’m very passionate about.
When I was young, I hated Math, but because I had to study Math at school, my New Year’s resolutions at that time were: 1) studying Math at home every night after school; 2) hiring a math tutor once a week.
Sadly, I didn’t stick to my New Year’s resolutions at that time. Further examination shows that I wasn’t interested in Math that much, so I couldn’t be bothered. Obviously, willpower alone can only do so much.
Now life is different: I love writing and I enjoy going to the gym. I like writing because this is the perfect way for me to express myself. I like going to the gym because I enjoy the interactions with other people in group fitness classes. As a result, I’m happy to stick to my New Year’s resolutions nowadays.
In conclusion, passion makes everything so much easier!
“A trip to Eastern Europe has helped me to stick to my New Year’s resolutions this year. I’m very grateful for that.”
