A holiday in France: Why I love the South of France

My dream holiday is a holiday in France. And I’ve made it come true this year! So, I’d like to share the highlight of my time in the South of France. This article will probably make your trip more fantastic as well!

  • Where to go in the South of France?

My favorite place in the South of France is the Mougins main square as well as back streets because there are so many art galleries. Picasso literally lived there! Because someone purchased Picasso’s house, now we can’t visit Picasso’s house anymore. But I still love those charming little galleries in this area. I can spend a whole day here.

Another must-visit is the Fragonard perfume factory (Grasse) where you can observe the traditional perfume-making process. I love seeing workers processing the raw materials and packaging the final products. Note that this place has a perfume museum, too. It’s indeed a world of perfume.

You can find a flea market in Valbonne on Tuesday and Friday. I bought some artisanal soaps and embroidered antique linens at the flea market.

Of course, Cannes Old Town is absolutely beautiful. You should totally climb up to the Eglise Notre-Dame d’Esperance church and walk to La Croisette. The view is breathtaking.

Don’t forget a boat ride to Les Iles de Lerins at Lerins Islands where you can see the old monastery in Saint-Honorat!

holiday in France
  • A holiday in Franceisn’t complete without good food.

If you are going to stay in the hills close to Mougins, be sure to have dinner at La Boheme (Mougins) where you can find amazing food and the perfect atmosphere.

Another restaurant that I would like to highly recommend is La Colombe d’Or Hotel and Restaurant (St. Paul de Vence) where you can admire the art on the wall above your table. It is said that this restaurant took art as payment for dinner from young artists in the past. I like having lunch in this special restaurant.

“The South of France is the ideal place for an enjoyable holiday. My holiday in France is best characterized by incredible food and places of interest.”
